Our Projects

Update on Projects!!

The winter of 2013 was a busy time for Hope Remembered in Guinea Bissau. With the help of a donor we were able to make a lot of progress on the school in Pravis. The latest update from our missionary on the ground in Guinea Bissau is fantastic!

Here is an excerpt from her latest email:
windows and doors have been placed and now a brazilian team of christians whose job is teacher training have been training the teachers at the school, all free of charge, and they said that they are pleased to see the progress the kids have made, they have over 200 kids..a real blessing..
We have been so blessed to receive updates on this project. Now the school is fully concreted with windows and doors and the teachers are better trained to educate over 200 students. We are in awe at how the Lord continues to move in this project. Because of the school, not only are children educated, but for the first time the Christian church in Pravis is able to hold Sunday School each week. Because of your generosity and faithfulness and the Lord's faithfulness, so many lives are being transformed through education. They now have HOPE! A hope for a future and Hope in the One who is able to do exceedingly more than we can imagine!

As soon as we get pictures of the completed project we will share!!

This Spring 2014 our missionary partner in Guinea Bissau was also blessed with a new vehicle!! She had been driving a truck that was more than 30 years old. It was no longer reliable for her to safely travel to the remote villages to do her work. Two fantastic ladies that Hope Remembered has been blessed to partner with led the fundraising efforts. It was amazing to watch how yet again the Lord provided. Big thanks to Shelly and her California team and Devon4Africa for making this dream a reality for our loved missionary!

Keeping Maritza Mobile!!

The pool project will start up again now that our missionary has good transportation. The orphanage project is slow and steady. Land has been secured, taxes paid, survey complete, and the planning stage is underway. Please continue to pray over each of these projects! HopeRemembered is so thankful for each of you that pray, give, and love the people of Guinea Bissau. The Lord is using you to change lives!

Current needs for projects:
- construction of sturdy tables and benches for the school (currently they are using sticks and scrap wood for seating) This final phase will complete this project!!

- continued financial support for foster home to house 6 children with local GB missionaries. Home and well need to be constructed in Bissau.

- pool project is still needing funds to finish up the construction of the pool. Tile has been laid and we now need funds to complete the well and pump for the water supply.

If you are interested in giving to any of these projects, you can do so from our DONATE page. Our DONATE tab gives you all the info needed to make a donation. Remember that all donations are now tax deductible!

PROJECTS:

Very soon we will be partnering with a missionary couple native to Guinea Bissau. They are in the process of completing plans to build a much needed orphanage in the Southern part of Guinea Bissau. Six children will soon be under their care as they begin the process of ministering to the children and families in this area. Be in prayer for this project and we will have more info very soon!

We are currently raising funds to complete the construction of a pool in Guinea Bissau. This pool has been a dream of a missionary in GB for some time. She has been saving and spending her own money to purchase the land, build a wall around the property, and start construction of the pool. A ministry in Costa Rica has raised the funds needed for the pools filter system. We are raising funds to purchase the concrete needed for the pool, solar panels to run the filter system, the well needed for a clean water supply, and the construction of a boys and girls bath house set far enough away from the pool as to not contaminate the clean water. This pool would be a tremendous blessing to the more than 150 children in the local orphanage and the children in the surrounding area. To give these precious children just a tiny glimpse at what a normal childhood is like gives me goosebumps!

In the Summer of 2013 Hope Remembered helped complete a school for the Pravis village in Guinea Bissau. We were able to purchase locally in GB all the supplies needed to frame and construct the roof for the mud brick structure. The missionary in the village had been praying that God would supply the materials because the rainy season was fast approaching and the building would not withstand the rains without a roof. We received two beautiful handwoven blankets as thanks from the village. We treasure these tokens of gratitude and have been so blessed by partnering with the people of Pravis.

In the Spring of 2013 Hope Remembered completed a well project in a remote village in Guinea Bissau. We partnered with a missionary on the ground in GB to coordinate this project. What a blessing for the people of this village who for the first time have access to clean water that will not dry up when the rainy season ends. Native Guinea Bissau men were hired for every aspect of this job from the suppliers, diggers, and contractors. To read the complete story of the well project and for more pictures visit our personal blog here and here and see how a 7 year old boy got this started!
